A Legacy of Artistic Exploration

Blending tradition with contemporary vision

A Dialogue of Tradition and Innovation

about

A Multidisciplinary Foundation in Fine Art

For over four decades, Vicki Long has set a standard of artistic excellence in California's fine arts community. Beginning her creative journey at sixteen, she has built an internationally recognized practice defined by paintings, collages, monoprints, sculptural forms, and innovative assemblage. Her art emerges from a distinctive method: each figurative work is rooted in classical anatomical charcoal drawing, capturing the discipline and precision of academic technique. Once the model's presence closes, Long transforms the initial study by infusing abstract expressionist energy through bold passages of paint, reinterpreting form and meaning. This fusion of rigor and spontaneity generates a compelling visual language that bridges tradition with modernity, echoing the rich lineage of figure-based art while pioneering its evolution. Vicki Long's unique style has garnered attention and praise from both private and institutional collectors. Her pieces are held in prominent collections, including those of actor-director Robert Redford, designer Lawrence Halprin, and major corporate clients such as IBM and AT&T. This broad recognition affirms both the aesthetic merit and enduring value of her art, making each acquisition a wise investment for collectors and an inspiring focal point for contemporary environments.

Art as Cultural Dialogue and Witness

Vicki Long's assemblage and wood totem works extend beyond visual appeal to actively engage with vital cultural themes. Her practice tackles current social issues - including women's rights and racial justice - demonstrating a commitment to using art as a platform for conversation and reflection. Each piece in these categories is thoughtfully constructed, using form and material in service of narrative. Assemblages often integrate found objects and layered imagery, building textured compositions that invite viewers to contemplate complex histories and societal shifts. The wood totems draw from classical figure drawing and reinterpret it with a contemporary sensibility, calling attention to identity and presence within the context of broader human experience. By engaging directly with pressing topics, Long's work becomes more than decorative; it becomes a statement, a site of engagement for both private and public spaces. As a result, her art is selected for environments seeking more than visual harmony - spaces that wish to spark dialogue, foster connection, and offer enduring relevance. Collectors and curators investing in Long's portfolio are not only securing original artwork but are partnering in an ongoing cultural conversation fostered by a seasoned, acclaimed artist.
